3 jours à Candidasa, mais plongées au départ de Padang Bai, à 30mn de bus de Candidasa. Nombreux sites possibles, soit en remontant (en grande jukung assez rapide) vers Candidasa : Mimpang, Tepekong, Biaha (ce dernier site peut être très dangereux et nous ne l'avons pas fait !), à la recherche surtout des molas-molas, dans des eaux fraiches, agitées de courants qui peuvent être violents et erratiques, et avec une houle souvent assez forte. C'était plus ou moins le cas pour nous, courant acceptable (quand même assez puissant sur Mimpang), mais houle franchement gênante sur Tepekong (d'où très peu de photos, d'autant que nous n'avons pas vu de molas !). Pour Nusa Penida, bateau rapide avec moteurs puissants : mer souvent houleuse, courants très violents ; deux sites principaux : Manta point (beaucoup de bateaux sur le site, visi quasi nulle, ressac très sensible, 3 mantas vues à plusieurs reprises, mais je n'avais pas pris mon appareil dans cette purée de pois !) et Crystal bay, où, comme son nom l'indique, l'eau est claire, souvent fraiche (pas assez quand nous y sommes allés : 23° en surface, 17-19° sous la thermocline) ; courant faible, mais, là aussi, ressac assez gênant et ... pas de molas. Enfin, près de Padang Bai, un site "classique" que l'on fait en petite jukung : Blue Lagoon : eau très fraiche, pente de sable où l'on trouve plusieurs patates riches en poissons feuilles, antennaires, crevettes diverses, mais là encore, photo très difficile à cause de la houle ; impossible de se stabiliser à la bonne distance. |
3 days in Candidasa, but all the diving boats depart from Padang Bai, a 30 mn drive from Candidasa. Quite a lot of diving sites in the area, either going back towards Candidasa (with a large jukung) : Mimpang, Tepekong or Biaha (this site being quite dangerous, we didn't dive there !). The main activity is to look for molas-molas, in cool waters, with strong swell, undertow and currents that are often unpredictable. When we dove there, currents were quite strong (especially at Mimpang), but OK ; swell and undertow were really uncomfortable at Tepekong (so, not many photos as, anyway, we didnt't see molas !). Around Nusa Penida, very rough sea, very strong and often dangerous currents, so one needs a powerful boat to get there ; two sites are popular : Manta point (a lot of boats, there, very poor visibility, strong swell and/or undertow ; we saw 3 mantas, but I didn't take any picture in those murky waters !), and Crystal bay, where, as one can guess by the name, water is very clear, often quite cool (but not enough when we went there : 23° at the surface ; 17-19° under 20m) ; almost no current, but here also, a strong undertow and ... no molas. Near Padand Bai, at last, a very "classical" site, where you go with a small jukung : Blue Lagoon : water cool if not cold, a sandy slope with a few coral blocks where you can find leafy scorpionfishes, frog fishes, a lot of different shrimps, mais there again, photos were very difficult, because of the swell ; no way to stay still at the right shooting distance. |
