Croisière de 7 jours - 8 nuits (du 24.12 au 01.01) au départ de Phuket sur le Bunmee2 : 3 jours sur les îles du Sud (Hin Muang, Hin Daeng, Koh Ha, Koh Bida, Phi-Phi), puis 4 jours sur les îles du nord, les Similan, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai et Richelieu Rock. 27 plongées seront proposées, dont 6 de nuit (ou crépusculaires). J'en ferai 17. Séjour organisé avec le concours de Fun&Fly et - sur place- d'Andaman Scuba, centre francophone installé à Phuket, à quelques mètres de la très belle plage de Karon, un peu surpeuplée en cette période de fêtes, mais bon ... Vol avec Thaï Airways sans histoire, accueil à l'Andaman Inn, petit hôtel simple, adjacent au centre ... simple, mais propre et personnel sympa. Transfert en soirée vers Chalong Bay où le bateau est à quai et navigation de nuit vers Hin Muang. Bateau en bois assez spacieux, 4 cabines "masters" avec sanitaires privés, 3 cabines sans sanitaires. Cabines un peu petites mais en joli bois exotique, peu de rangements, mais qui a besoin d'une abondante garde-robe sur une croisière plongée ? Clim par ventilateur, pas le grand luxe, mais ... c'est plus que correct. Pont de plongée un peu juste (blocs très serrés les uns contre les autres, pas de table pour appareils photos ou caméras, pas vraiment de bac de rinçage sérieux ... à améliorer !!!). Nitrox à bord. Deux très bon points : personnel de bord hyper sympa et serviable et ... nourriture excellente. |
A 7 days - 8 nights cruise (from 24.12 to 01.01) aboard the Bunmee2, sailing from Phuket : 3 days towards the southern islands (Hin Muang, Hin Daeng, Koh Ha, Koh Bida, Phi-Phi), then 4 days up north : Similan islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. 27 dives will be proposed, among which 6 night (or dusk) dives. I'll do 17 dives. This liveaboard is operated by Andaman Scuba, a French (but also English speaking) dive center, located a few meters from the very beautiful Karon Beach, unfortunately a little overcrowded at this time of the year ... We flew with Thai Airways and we stayed one night at the Andaman Inn, a small, simple, but very friendly and clean hotel just next door to the dive center. Transfer on board after dinner ; the boat is anchored in Chalong Bay. We'll sail all night southwrads, to Hin Muang. The boat is a traditional boat, 4 "masters" cabins, with en-suite bathroom, 3 other cabins, sharing 2 bathrooms. The cabins are not two large, but made of nice precious wood, little room to put clothes, but who needs a lot of clothes on a diving cruise ? No AC, but fans in each cabin, not a luxury liveaboard, but it's quite OK. The diving deck is not so roomy : tanks are really touching each other, no table for cameras or vcideos, a small bucket to rinse cameras ; could be better ! Nitrox available on board. Two very good features : the crew members are very nice and helpful and the food is excellent ... |

Très beau temps et mer calme pendant toute la croisière. Eau à 27-28°. Et les plongées ??? Sur le sud, visi très médiocre ; les deux sites de Hin Muang et Hin Daeng ont été dévastés par de la pèche au cyanure (ou à l'arsenic ?) ; triste spectacle : il ne reste plus grand chose et la faune a fui avec la mort des coraux ... Je n'ai du coup pas pris de photo. Les choses s'améliorent sensiblement sur Koh Ha, Koh Bida, Shark Point, ... J'y ai fait quelques photos au D200, mais aussi quelques essais avec le petit Olympus Mu770 SW et son caisson dédié ; en macro, avec le flash interne, ça marche plutôt bien ... Ensuite, cap au nord après un court arrêt à Chalong Bay pour ravitailler. Visi nettement meilleure, sites sympas (Boulder City, Elephant Rock, Anita's reef, East of Eden, North Point et bien sûr, Richelieu Rock, le plus beau, où, malheureusement, nous nous retrouvons à 16 bateaux !!!). Beaucoup de sites aux reliefs assez semblables : gros blocs de granit (boulders), nombreuses anémones, alcyonaires de toutes les couleurs ou presque (surtout roses, mauves, rouges) et gorgones orangées ; côté faune : requins léopards, barracudas, bancs de lutjans, de fusiliers, carangues en chasse, nuées de glass fishes, ... et tous les poissons de corail habituels des mers tropicales. Plongées plus décevantes sur Koh Tachaï et Koh Bon : pas de requin baleine, pas de mantas et beaucoup de coraux cassés. Plusieurs séries de photos prises soit au D200 en caisson Ikelite, objectif 12~24 pour l'ambiance (la plupart des photos ) ; une série de poissons au micro-Nikkor 60mm et quelques macros et proxis avec le petit Olympus (dont un certain nombre prises par mon fils ...). Au total, croisière cool, tout à fait recommandable. |
The weather was fine and the sea quite calm all along the cruise. Water temperature : 27-28°C. What about the dives ? In the south, very bad visibility ; the two sites of Hin Muang and Hin Daeng have been almost completely destroyed by cyanid (or arsenic) poisoning by illegal fishermen ; all soft coral are dead and most of the fishes are gone ... Too sad ; I didn't take any photographs on those sites. Sites are in a much better state in Koh Ha, Koh Bida, Shark Point, ... I shot a few poictures with my Nikon D200, but I also made a few tests with the small Olympus Mu 770SW and its dedicated housing ; only for macro shots, and using the internal strobe, it's quite good ... Afer a short stop in Chalong Bay to resupply, we sailed north towards the Similan. Here, the visibility was much better, many very nice sites : Boulder city, Elephant Rock, Anita's reef, East of Eden and, of course, Richelieu Rock, the best of all, where unfortunately 16 boats were anchored !!! Many sites offer the same type of landscape : big blocks of granite (boulders), a lot of anemones, of colourful soft coral (mainly, red, rose and purple) and big orange sea fans ; the fauna is varied : zebra sharks, barracudas, big schools of snappers, hunting trevallies, glassfishes, ... and all the usual tropical coral fishes. Diving was more disappointing at Koh Bon and Koh Tacai : no whale shark, no mantas and a lot of broken coral. Different photo galleries are proposed, shot either with a Nikon D200 in an Ikelite housing and two Ikelite DS125 strobes ; mostly wide angle photographs, using the Nikkor 12~24 zoom lens and a few macro shots using the small Olympus Mu 770 SW (some of them shot by my son). |
