Maldives

Troisième séjour (10 jours) aux Maldives ( deux séjours précédents en Déc 1996 et Déc 1999).

Séjour à Filitheyo, dans l'atoll de Nilandhe nord (Faafu) ; un resort 4* très calme et très agréable. Bungalows spacieux et bien équipés, nourriture excellente, service souriant et prévenant.

L'île est assez grande, très belles plages, "house reef" très proche de la plage et très poissonneux et, surtout, plus de 10 passes à moins de 45' de dhoni, donc un endroit idéal pour la plongée en dérive "sportive", mais il y a aussi de très nombreux spots sans courant, à l'intérieur du lagon, parfaits pour les débutants. Filitheyo est l'un des 4 centres de Werner Lau aux Maldives : organisation impeccable - "à l'allemande", mais au bon sens du terme ! -

Temps très beau les 4-5 premiers jours ; plus incertain sur la fin : mer agitée, beaucoup de particules en suspension, visi moyenne à mauvaise et surtout un courant fort à très fort dans les passes ...

Bref, comme lors des précédents séjours, conditions pas idéales pour la photo. Peu ou pas d'ambiance au grand angle (avec le zoom Sigma 17~35) ; je me suis surtout concentré sur des "portraits de poissons" au Nikkor 105mm. J'ai utilisé, selon les clichés, associés à mon NIkon F90X en caisson Hugy, un ou deux flashes (Ikelite 200 et Sea&Sea YS 90 Duo).

Sont proposés environ 50 nouvelles photos et quelques vidéo clips (SONY PC-100 et caisson Ikelite)

Third trip (10 days) to the Maldives (two previous stays in Dec 1996 and Dec 1999).

We stayed at Filitheyo Island Resort, North Nilandhe atoll (Faafu) ; a very nice and peaceful 4* resort. The bungalows are roomy and well equipped, the food excellent and the service smiling and attentive.

The island is quite large, very nice beaches, the 'house reef" is very close to the beach and abounding in fish, and, above all, more than 10 channels at less than 45' of dhoni ride, so Fillithjeyo is the perfect place for quite "serious" drift dives, but one can also find a lot of current free dive spots inside the lagoon , ideal for beginners. Filitheyo is one of the 4 dive centers run by Werner Lau in the Maldives : very efficient organization -"in the German way", but no irony there !-

Very nice weather for the first 4 or 5 days, less sunny afterwards ; rough sea conditions, murky water, visibility from rather poor to very bad and, above all, a current ranging from strong to very strong in the channels ...

In short, once again, bad conditions for underwater photography. Almost no wide angle photographs (using the Sigma 17~35 zoom lens) ; I mostly concentrated on fish close-up shots, using the Nikkor 105 mm lens. One or two strobes were used (Ikelite 200 and Sea&Sea YS90 Duo), in combination with my Nikon F90X in its Hugy housing.

About 50 new pictures and a few video clips are proposed (SONY PC-100 in a Ikelite housing)
