Quelques commentaires sur ce "shark feeding" assez spécial : trois cages sont immergées sur un fond sableux d'une vingtaine de mètres.

La nourriture est placée dans une poubelle animée par un système de câbles et de poulies  et non donnée à la main afin de ne pas habituer les requins à assimiler plongeurs et nourriture  (pas une trop mauvaise idée !!!).

Dans un premier temps, on secoue la poubelle fermée (mais pleine) dans tous les sens, les plongeurs sont allongés sur les cages, les requins tournent (une trentaine de requins gris : carcharinus amblyrhyncos et de "silver tips" : carcharinus albimarginatus, de 1m50 à 2m) et s'excitent peu à peu, énervés par l'odeur de la nourriture qui reste inaccessible.

Dans un second temps, les plongeurs entrent dans les cages, on ouvre la poubelle ... S'ensuit une mêlée indescriptible : la nourriture est totalement absorbée en quelques minutes.

Les requins s'éloignent ensuite très vite. Les plongeurs sortent des cages et vont à la recherche des dents que les requins ont perdues en nombre pendant leur carnage ...

Et voilà. Durée du jeu, environ 30 à 40 mn. Cool.

A few comments about that rather peculiar  "Shark feeding" show : three cages are lying on a sandy bottom  at a depth of 60 to 70 ft.

Food is put into a bin moved by a system of cables and pulleys and not held in hand, in order to prevent sharks from getting used to link divers and food (which doesn't sound to be a bad idea !!!).

During the first part of the show, the bin is held closed (but full) and shaken back and forth, divers are lying on top of the cages, sharks are circling around (about 30 sharks, grey reef sharks : carcharinus amblyrhyncos and silver tips sharks : carcharinus albimarginatus, around 5 to 7 ft long), and they get more and more excited, overstimulated by the smell of the food that stays out of reach.

During the second part, divers get into the cages, the bin is opened ... Follows an indiscribable free-for-all : the food disappears in a few minutes. Sharks then go away very quickly. Divers get out of the cages and dig the sand in search of the numerous teeth that were lost by the sharks during their fray ...

That's it. Length of the game, 30 to 40 mn.
